Simply Droplets
A small VST3 / CLAP MIDI-effect plugin that gives an MCP assistant a way into your DAW: notes, looping patterns and CC to the instruments you already have.
Droplets sits in your DAW as a MIDI effect and gives an assistant a way in. It does not make sound and it does not bundle a model: an MCP client — Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, your own — asks it to play notes, start a looping pattern, or move a parameter, and your instruments do the rest. It is an early, open-source tool.
What it can do
Real-time MIDI
The AI sends notes and CC messages directly to your instruments.
Looping patterns
"Fugues" — musical sequences that sync to your DAW's transport: quantized starts, looping, layering, tags, and smooth CC automation.
Parameter control
Automate any plugin via MIDI CC or parameter slots.
MIDI export
Drag AI-created patterns into your arrangement as clips.
MIDI 2.0
Per-note pitch bend, pressure, and 16-bit velocity.
How it fits
Droplets sits in your DAW as a MIDI effect and routes to whatever instruments you already have. It speaks MCP over streamable HTTP on http://localhost:9999/mcp; any MCP client that speaks HTTP (Claude Code, Cursor) uses that URL as-is, and Claude Desktop bridges through mcp-remote. Then you ask:
"Play middle C for 2 beats, then E and G together."
"Create a chill lo-fi beat with swing."
"Sweep the filter cutoff from 20% to 80%."
Works with

- Bitwig, Ableton Live, Logic, and anything else that hosts VST3 or CLAP.
- Platforms
- macOS, Windows, Linux.
- Assistants
- Claude, GPT, or any MCP-compatible AI.

Droplets is open source under the MIT license. Build from source and cargo xtask install copies the plugin to the right place; the README has the per-DAW routing notes.
